The Department in the frame of the project “Energy Upgrade of Polytechnic School Buildings” has designed and installed in the building’s roof a 10 kWp grid-connected Photovoltaic Power Station. The PV plant consist of arrays of different photovoltaics technologies (c-Si, polyc-Si, a-Si:H, Micromorph, Hit-Si και CIGS) allowing the comparative study of PV modules characteristics and properties. The meteorological and electrical data are monitored in real-time using proper sensors. The data are available in the university community and the installation is used for students training and research purposes in the field of Renewable Energy Systems.
