Maria will present a specific project centered around the formulation and characterization of particle-stabilized emulsions for the delivery of bioactives.

Maria earned her diploma in Chemical Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens and later pursued an MSc in Biomedical Engineering at Imperial College London.

Her Ph.D. studies were conducted at the group of biomimetics and nanobiotechnology Institute of Chemical Biology, NHRF, and in collaboration with Örebro University, School of Science and Technology jointly supervised by Aris Xenakis and Bert van Bavel. Maria's doctoral research focused on the formulation and characterization of W/O nanodispersions for bioactive delivery applications.

Post-Ph.D., Maria secured a scholarship from the Institut Français de Grèce for a short post-doctoral research at the French Agricultural Research Centre for International Development. Subsequently, she continued her post-doctoral journey at the biomimetics and nanobiotechnology group, contributing to various projects involving diverse nano-formulations for different applications. In 2020, Maria started working as a scientific advisor for the Cypriot startup 'The Mighty Kitchen.' In August 2023, she joined Skretas Lab at NHRF, focusing on science communication. Most recently, she became affiliated with BSRC Fleming, continuing her work within the same group.
